Holidays Are Here!!

Hola,

Holidays are coming. Thanksgiving (El dia de gracias) is in a little over a week away. Christmas (Navidad) is a little over a month away. There seems to be a lot to do in so little time.

Report Cards:
Grades have just gone out last week. Parent/teacher conferences were last Friday. I am still willing to speek to parents about their child(ren) via email or by phone conference. Please contact me by phone (ext. 207) or by email. Remember to give the following information: studnet(s) name(s), your name, and best way to contact you (if by phone please leave a number, email- send me a email to reply to).

Grades 2-6 are finishing up some quizzes. The quiz is review of the things that we have been doing in class. Students should have been getting review papers/information sheet when materials have been introduced. If I feel the students need a study guide I will send one out and post it here.
Grades 7 and 8 are taking tests. Have repeatedly reminded the students of the test. I have posponed the test an extra rotation already. The students should have been studying. A study guide/sheet has been handed out to the students.

Extra Credit ... Better Test/Quiz Grade:
All students will have the opportunity to improve their test/quiz grade. The students need to correct the wrong answers on another piece of paper and turn it in to me. Their test/quiz need to be attached and their classroom teacher's name on the top of it. Students will get 1/2 a point for every corrected answer that is correct.

A Reminder to Parents and Students: It is the students responsiblity find out what the student has missed , if they were absent from class. This may not effect the younger students as much as the older students because of the repetition. Seventh and eighth graders are required to get the materials missed. If the absence is not an excused absence, the student has to make up the missed work. If the student is in ISS, it is their responsibility to pick up their work to do in ISS. They are not excused from the class work for being in ISS.

Progress Reports:
Progress reports come out at the end of November/beginning of December. The Progress report grades will reflect the grades recieved on their tests/quizzes. Please encourage your child(ren) to correct his/her (their) test/quiz to get a better grade (if they need to).

Country Information:
I am still waiting on coutry information from the students. I will try to send out reminder to the students. See the blog for last month for more information. This month is the same information: general information about their country (flag, colors, anthem, song, president/dictator,etc.).

Holiday Activities:
I do not really have anything planned for Thanksgiving (El dia de gracias). I will probably work something into my lesson related, but nothing specific on the whole subject. However, I do have a few ideas for Christmas (Navidad). I will be using one class rotation to do something related to Navidad. I am hoping to relate it culturally also to each individual class country.

Upcoming Themes:
8th: Roman Numerals, Latin Numbers, Stage 4
7th: Roman Numeral, Latin Numbers, Roman Houses
K-6th: Varies depending on grade. Will put out more infromation soon. Depends on the holidays and field trips.

Parent Volunteers:
If you want to volunteer during the holidays or when ever please drop me an email or give me a call (ext. 207).

Any questions, please feel free to get in touch with me.

Hasta aproxima vez,

Senorita Morrin
